Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Association officially opened the Dharma Drum Meditation Center on January 24, 2026, in Midtown Manhattan, creating a new spiritual space for urban practitioners. The opening ceremony, led by Venerable Guo Yuan, included a purification ritual, Dharma talk, and guided sound meditation, with more than fifty attendees experiencing Chan practice through hearing and relaxation. The program continued with group practice integrating moving and sitting meditation, followed by participant reflections on finding calm, healing, and a sense of belonging. Inspired by Master Sheng Yen’s long-standing vision, the center aims to offer ongoing programs—including meditation sessions, Dharma talks, retreats, and Tea Chan—and to serve as a stable and welcoming environment where individuals can cultivate inner peace, wisdom, and compassion.
